The North Texas Food Bank welcomes individuals to assist in making holiday tea that will be given as thank you gifts! The volunteers will be provided with all the necessary supplies and instructions on how to make the tea. The shift will be 3 hours at The Perot Family Campus in The Simon Conference Room. Volunteers will receive community service hours for participating in this event.
Age Requirements: According to safety guidelines, all attendees must be 12 years of age or older. All attendees must be registered for the volunteer event, both chaperones and youth.
- Volunteers ages 12-15 require at least one adult chaperone per 3 youth.
- Volunteers ages 16+ do not require chaperone.
Attire: We recommend dressing in comfortable and casual clothes suitable for the season. Items that are not appropriate include revealing clothing.
Commitment: Upon arrival, you will check in with a staff member and head directly to The Simon Conference Room. Thank you for being on time as we follow an agenda to be as productive as possible. Running late? If you are 10+ minutes late, you will not be able to volunteer. Need to cancel, here is how you can cancel? We appreciate you canceling your registration in a timely manner so we may offer the slots to other volunteers.
Safety: We invite volunteers into our facility to help fight hunger and it is important that we maintain a safe environment. Volunteers are expected to comply with all rules, follow the directions given by station leaders, and immediately report any accidents to a staff member.
Accommodation Needs: This opportunity includes standing, bending, and sitting. Please let us know if you have accommodation needs.
Tracking Hours: Any volunteer (youth or adult) needing to track hours for employer matches, school, scholarships, scouts, etc. must create their own account, sign up, and check in for every shift with a staff member. If you are not in our system, we cannot verify hours. If you check in through the Galaxy site or add your own hours, they will not be approved. By checking in with a staff member your hours will be entered in automatically. In addition to tracking hours in our online system, you may ask the receptionist for a North Texas Food Bank Hour Verification Form after the shift. Our policy is to not sign any court-appointed service documents including time sheets.
Lobby Hours: Normal lobby hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Shift Closure: If we need to cancel a shift for any reason, a cancellation email will be sent to all volunteers who signed up by 8:00 a.m.
Parking: Carpooling is highly recommended. Thank you for not parking in a reserved spot or in the lot of our neighbors. Please let us know if your group is arriving on a bus.
