Volunteer: Partner Mobile: Community Missionary Baptist (Cedar Hill)

Like a market on wheels, the North Texas Food Bank's Mobile Pantry program is a traveling pantry that delivers nutritious food, including fresh produce and refrigerated items, directly to communities with high need. NTFB staff and host site volunteers unload, set up and distribute food directly to clients in a parking lot. 

You must not have any symptoms of COVID-19 as stated on the CDC website.

Starting on June 10, 2021, drive time to the event will be included in your volunteer services hours. We will round up to the nearest 15 minutes and use the home address in your account to determine drive time. This is available for Mobile Pantry Volunteer Opportunities only.

Description: Help unload, set up and distribute food directly to clients in a fast-paced, outside environment. Volunteers must have good verbal skills and physically be able to stand for long periods of time, bend, stoop and lift at least 25 pounds repeatedly throughout their shift. Courtesy and helpfulness are expected! Jobs may include the following:

Hand out intake forms and golf pencils by slipping them in cracked windows Direct lanes of traffic in the parking lot Take photos of intake forms through closed car windows and call out number of boxes required (NTFB to provide cameras- Site Leader will give guidance) Place food in trunk of vehicles or hood of car Move boxes at the staging site as needed Other site-specific duties

Chaperone Requirements: All attendees must be 18 years of age or older, but 16 and 17 year old may volunteer if a guardian or a group leader (who has secured permissions to participate) are in attendance.

Attire:  Closed-toe shoes are required (no sandals or flip flops). If you do not have closed-toed shoes you will be asked to join us another day with proper attire. We recommend dressing in comfortable and casual clothes suitable for the season. We recommend sunscreen, sunglasses, work gloves, and hats. If you have your own safety vest then feel free to bring it; but if you don't then we will provide some onsite.

Commitment: Check in will begin at 7:00 AM and orientation will begin promptly at 7:30 AM. Our hungry neighbors are counting on you to arrive on time and to stay for the entire shift.  If you are unable to complete the full shift, then please log into your account and cancel your registration. We hope you can join us another time.

Tracking Hours:  Any volunteer (youth or adult) needing to track hours for employer matches, school, scholarships, scouts, etc. must create their own account, sign up, and check in for every shift.  If you are not in our system, we cannot verify hours.  In addition to tracking hours in our online system, you may ask the NTFB Mobile Pantry Coordinator for an Hour Verification Form after the shift. Our policy is to not sign any court-appointed service documents including time sheets.
